Tour Overview by Day

• Day 1: Lagos Arrival – Airport meet-and-greet, hotel transfer, and tour briefing.
• Day 2: Lagos & Badagry – Visit the National Museum, take a boat trip to Badagry slave route historical sites, and witness a traditional Zangbeto masquerade performance.
• Day 3: Lagos, Makoko & Abeokuta – Experience the Makoko floating village by canoe, then travel to Abeokuta to climb Olumo Rock and visit the Kuti Heritage Museum.
• Day 4: Abeokuta to Idanre Hills – Journey to Idanre to hike up the ancient rocky plateau and explore the 800-year-old abandoned village.
• Day 5: Idanre to Osogbo – Explore the UNESCO-listed Sacred Grove of Osun, meet Ifa priestesses at an Orisha temple, and visit the Nike Art Gallery.
• Day 6: Osogbo to Ilorin – Pay homage at Shao town, witness a traditional Ifa divination ceremony, and see the renowned weavers of Ilorin.
• Day 7: Ilorin, Esie & Lokoja – Visit Esie Museum to view Nigeria's mysterious soapstone carvings, then travel to the historic city of Lokoja.
• Day 8: Lokoja to Abuja – Uncover colonial history at the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers before driving to Abuja.
• Day 9: Abuja Departure— See the famous Zuma Rock, visit Ushafa Pottery Village, stop by the Nike Art Centre, and transfer to the airport.

Is this tour suitable or challenging for me?

This tour is designed for travelers with a moderate level of fitness. It features overnight stays in standard hotels within major city centers and simpler, basic hotel accommodations in countryside locations. It does not include highly demanding physical activities, but traveling in Nigeria involves long drives over some rough roads. We have carefully planned our routes to limit driving times where possible and break up long distances with sightseeing stops.

The average driving time between destinations is 3 to 7 hours. However, unexpected traffic gridlocks, police/military checkpoints, and frequent stops can occasionally increase travel times up to 12 hours. The active portions of the tour include 1 to 3 hours of soft hiking and light walking over uneven, rocky terrains with the help of local guides. The most physically challenging activities are climbing the Idanre Hills and Olumo Rock.

Accommodation & Amenities

In major cities like Lagos, Abeokuta, and Abuja, you will stay in comfortable, modern hotels. In smaller towns and regional destinations, the accommodations are basic but very neat, clean, and equipped with functional Wi-Fi facilities to ensure you remain connected.

Meals are provided according to the meal plan indicators shown in your detailed itinerary (B - Breakfast, L - Lunch, D - Dinner). You will have the opportunity to taste a variety of delicious local Nigerian dishes alongside continental menu options.
